Is BritBox worth it this fall? What's new on BritBox in fall 2026

Every new BritBox mystery premiering in the U.S. this fall, from Ludwig and Time to Blue Lights and Death Valley, with dates, current prices and who it suits.

By the TV Docket editors · How we work Published

If you like British crime drama, this fall gives BritBox a busy run of new episodes. Between mid-October and mid-November it premieres four mystery and police series in the U.S.: Ludwig season 2, Time season 3, Blue Lights season 4 and Death Valley season 2. Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence is already running. If none of those appeal, it’s harder to justify, because BritBox’s new titles come almost entirely from BBC and ITV.

What’s new on BritBox this fall

U.S. date Show How it’s released
Tue, Sep 15 Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence, season 1 Two episodes, then weekly on Tuesdays
Tue, Oct 13 Ludwig, season 2 Weekly
Thu, Oct 22 Time, season 3 Weekly (three episodes)
Thu, Nov 12 Blue Lights, season 4 Weekly on Thursdays, through Dec 17
Tue, Nov 17 Death Valley, season 2 Premiere date announced; pattern not yet confirmed

All dates are U.S. dates. Each show’s page lists the episode-by-episode schedule and the sources for each date.

  • Ludwig is the lightest of the five. David Mitchell’s puzzle-setter is now a police consultant, still searching for his missing twin.
  • Time is the heaviest. The third season, with David Tennant and Siobhan Finneran, is set in a young offenders institution.
  • Blue Lights returns to Belfast response officers three years into the job, facing a growing drug trade with stretched resources.
  • Death Valley is a cozy Welsh mystery: Timothy Spall’s retired TV detective is now a civilian consultant to Gwyneth Keyworth’s newly promoted inspector.

What it costs

These are BritBox’s U.S. prices as listed on its own site on October 1, 2026:

Plan Price What you get
Monthly $10.99 a month Full catalog, ad-free, cancel anytime
Annual $109.99 a year Same as monthly; BritBox says it’s 12 months for the price of 10
Premier $149.99 a year Adds early viewing of featured new releases and BBC Select documentaries

The monthly and annual plans come with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. Premier is billed immediately. BritBox notes that offers and prices can change, so check its site before you sign up.

Is it worth it?

Yes, if you follow BBC and ITV detectives. Most of them reach the U.S. on BritBox, often months after the U.K. The four fall premieres all release weekly, so one month of the monthly plan won’t cover them all: Blue Lights alone runs until December 17. If you plan to watch the whole slate, that’s at least three months. At that point the annual plan becomes the better deal, since it costs the same as ten months.

Maybe not, if you mainly want PBS MASTERPIECE shows such as Maigret and The Gold, or Acorn TV’s Midsomer Murders and its originals. Those aren’t on BritBox. Our BritBox vs. Acorn TV vs. PBS MASTERPIECE comparison maps each big series to its U.S. home.

Not yet on the list: Grace season 6 aired in the U.K. in spring 2026, but BritBox hasn’t announced a U.S. date. Telly Visions reported in April that it would arrive in early 2027.
