PBS says the new season of Maigret, starring Benjamin Wainwright as the young Paris detective, adapts “three of Georges Simenon’s best-known Maigret novels”. Each novel gets two episodes. The episode titles show the order the cases air in.

Early and later Maigret in one season
Two of the three books date from 1931, early in Simenon’s long run of Maigret novels. Maigret’s Revolver came out more than 20 years later, in 1952. The novels are largely self-contained, so you can read any of the three without the others, before or after watching.
Who’s new
Stefanie Martini returns as Louise Maigret. PBS names two additions to the cast: Nathaniel Parker as Director of Police Xavier Guichard, and Alex Bhat as George Bonfils, a new member of Maigret’s team.
