About Death Valley

Death Valley is a cozy crime comedy-drama set in the hills and coastal towns of mid Wales. Timothy Spall plays John Chapel, a retired actor who once starred as a TV detective, and Gwyneth Keyworth plays Janie Mallowan, the real police officer who reluctantly lets him help with her murder cases. The BBC series is made by BBC Studios, and BritBox streams it in the U.S.

Season 2: Janie has been promoted to detective inspector and John is now a civilian consultant to Mid Wales Police, but the two have been keeping their distance. A murder on the set of a big film production brings them back together. Season 2 aired in the U.K. from May 17 to June 21, 2026, and BritBox premieres it in the U.S. on Tuesday, November 17, 2026.
